Yerevan, 29 February: The head of the media relations department of
the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Tigran Balayan, has said, "Azerbaijan
is in a panic at the thought that Kosovo may become a precedent
[for its breakaway region of Nagornyy Karabakh]."
Tigran Balayan said this in comments on various Azerbaijani initiatives
presented after Kosovo declared independence.
"Armenia confirms its position regarding the specific features of each
conflict and confirms that all movements for self-determination should
have the possibility to develop and reach their natural and logical
development. The more that Azerbaijan declares that Kosovo cannot be
a precedent, the more people will think about the existence of obvious
parallels between the two conflicts," the Armenian diplomat said.
