ORINATS YERKIR TO SUPPORT OPPOSITION CANDIDATE IN POTENTIAL RUN OFF

YEREVAN, JANUARY 7, ARMENPRESS: Heghine Bisharian, an MP and a deputy
chairperson of the Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law) opposition party,
argued today that none of nine presidential candidates would win
the February 19 presidential election outright and there would be a
run off.
Mrs. Bisharian, who heads the election campaign of the party leader,
a former parliament speaker, Arthur Baghdasarian, said at today's news
conference that Baghdasarian would win as many votes as to have the
right to compete for the highest job in the second round of the ballot.
She said if Arthur Baghdasarian fails to do so, which she said was
'very little probable,' the Orinats Yerkir party would support the
opposition candidate in the run off.
"We shall be the first to shake the hand of the president who will
win in a clean and fair competition," she said.
She said the party has formed campaign offices across the country.
