7.2% UNEMPLOYMENT RECORDED IN ARMENIA IN JAN-NOV 2007

YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. Unemployment rate was 7.2% in Armenia in
January-November 2007, which is a 0.4pct reduction against the same
period of year before.
Armenia's National Statistical Service reports that as per estimates
the number of economically active population averaged 1,165,600
people in Armenia as of the end of November 2007, with 1,082,200
people employed in economy and 83,400 people unemployed.
The number of people seeking jobs and officially registered by the
"State Service for Employment in Armenia" Agency was 91,000 people
at the end of November 2007 with 86.4% of them (78,600 people)
being without jobs (unoccupied). 96.6% of the overall number of the
unoccupied (75,900 people) received the status of unemployed.
In November 2007 women constituted 73.78% (56,000 people) of the
overall number of the officially unemployed.
By the end of November only 15,300 people were receiving monthly
benefits with its amount averaging 11,275 Drams (against 8,503 Drams
in November 2006).
According to statistical information, official demand for labor force
in Armenia was 872 people (90 unoccupied per vacancy).
