YEREVAN, JANUARY 9, NOYAN TAPAN. According to the evaluation of RA
Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian, the year 2007 was an active and
efficient year for Armenia's foreign policy. As he stated on January 9,
summing up the past diplomatic year, in 2007 Armenia "distinguished
itself with its home political stability and economic growth" in the
South Caucasian region, country's authority as a stable and reliable
state and partner was strengthened. "On the basis of the current South
Caucasian developments our achievements are more than perceptible and
will be a serious stimulus for implementation of our future foreign
political programs," the Minister mentioned.
According to the Minister, in 2007 Armenia continued its active
participation within the framework of international organizations,
continued developing its relations with regional countries, as well
as in European, American, Russian, and other directions.
V. Oskanian assured that Armenia will continue its efforts in
the direction of Nagorno Karabakh settlement. According to him,
the economic sphere will also be one of the priorities of Armenia's
diplomacy. The forthcoming presidential elections will play a pivotal
part for 2008, and unless the elections meet the international
standards, it will have a negative impact on Armenia's foreign policy
and on country's rating.
