Number of Commercial Legal Entities Grows by 4.8%

NUMBER OF COMMERCIAL LEGAL ENTITIES REGISTERED IN ARMENIA GROWS BY
4.8% IN ONE YEAR, NUMBER OF PRIVATE BUSINESSMEN DECLINES BY 4.17%

YEREVAN, JANUARY 11, NOYAN TAPAN. By data of the State Register of
Legal Entities and Private Businessmen of the RA Ministry of Justice,
in January-November 2007, 3,560 commercial legal entities and 11,653
private businessmen were registered, and their total number made 56,286
and 49,893 respectively as of December 1, 2007. By data of the RA
National Statistical service, 53,736 legal entities and 52,066 private
busienssmen were registered as of December 1, 2006. The number of legal
entities grew by 4.8% in one year, while that of private businessmen
declined by 4.17%.

1,087 legal entities and 1,533 private businessmen were liquidated in
January-November 2007.

3,560 legal entities, which were registered in the indicated period of
2007, made investments of over 7 bln 499.6 mln drams (over 21,7 mln
USD). Investments of 3 bln 66.7 mln drams were made in 360 enterprises
founded with foreign capital, including investments of 1 bln 654.1 mln
drams in 244 enterprises founded by only foreign legal entities and
citizens and investments of 1 bln 412.6 mln drams in 136 joint ventures.
