Special commission for conducting expert examination of modernization
of Hrazdan HPP 5th energy unit formed in Armenia
YEREVAN, January 11. /ARKA/. According to the decision of Armenia's
Government a temporary inter-departmental commission is formed for
conducting expert examination of the modernization project of the 5th
energy unit of Hrazdan Hear Power Plant (HPP). The RA Government's
public relations department told ARKA that the decision was made in
accordance with the law `On urban planning.'
The expert commission will be headed by Deputy Energy Minister Areg
Galstyan.
The structure is commissioned to finish work on special complex
expertise of the modernization project within a month.
On April 6, 2006, Armenia's Government made a decision to sell the
5th energy unit of Hrazdan HPP to the Russian `Gasprom' by $248.8mln.
$188mln of this sum will be directed to the compensation of
population's expenditure as a result of rise in gas tariffs, and
$60mln - to the state budget.
`Gasprom' is obliged not to increase gas tariffs by 2009, fixing the
price within $110ths for 1ths cubic meters up to January 1, 2009.
