Raging Bull to give Pinoys hell night
VIC `Raging Bull' Darchinyan will be in Cebu City to wage war with
hometown hero Z `The Dream' Gorres this Feb. 2 in their International
Boxing Federation super flyweight eliminator armed with a support
group to cheer him on.
Hussein `Hussy' Hussein, stablemate of Darchinyan and the scheduled
opponent of IBF/IBO flyweight champion Nonito `The Filipino Flash'
Donaire Jr. in Dubai, will be heading the support group alongside
Russian Victor Oganov when they invade Cebu.
According to the Armenian's manager Elias Nasser, Darchinyan is very
much confident to win against speedy Gorres.
`Vic is very confident about scoring a big win. I think the Filipinos
are in for one hell of a night,' said Nasser in a report posted at
sportsnut.com.au.
`Vic's confidence is on a high. Despite the loss to Donaire, he has
just been included in Ring Magazine's list of the Top 10 Punchers in
the world and believe me he is punching harder than ever in the gym,'
he added.
Meanwhile, Gorres is looking good in his training, having
accomplished the 100-round mark of sparring matches. Last Saturday,
Gorres sparred for 10 rounds and will be sparring his last 14 rounds
this week.
`Gorres is doing great. By what I've seen in his 10 rounds of
sparring last Saturday, he looks terrific,' said Edito `Ala' Villamor
of ALA gym in an interview by Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.
`He will be sparring 14 more rounds next week,' he added.
`The Dream' impressed Cebuano fans in his public sparring last
Thursday at the ALA gym in Banilad Town Center and displayed speed
and power punch combinations. (EKA)
