The co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group, an organization mediating in
the settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over
Nagorno-Karabakh, will return to Baku from Yerevan to continue
discussing ways to resolve the problem if their talks with the
Armenian leadership prove productive, Azeri Deputy Foreign Minister
Araz Azimov told journalists on Tuesday.
"The co-chairmen are in Yerevan now, and if need be, they will return
to Baku and these discussions will be continued," Azimov said.
If the co-chairmen do not consider it necessary to return to Baku
after the talks with the Armenian leadership, their next visit to the
region will take place later, he said.
The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen's current visit to the region is
aimed at gauging the conflicting parties' attitudes toward a new set
of proposals the mediators handed to the Azeri and Armenian foreign
ministers at a meeting in Madrid in late November, Azimov said.
"These proposals are being considered. Discussions with the co-
chairmen were held yesterday on the basis of these proposals," he
said.
