The settlement of the Garabagh conflict must rely on agreements
between the so-called "Nagorno-Garabagh Republic" and Azerbaijan.
The due statement was pronounced by candidate for Armenian President
Artashes Gegamyan, representing the party of National Unification.
"The compromises for the settlement of Nagorno-Garabagh conflict must
rely on agreements between its sides- the so-called "Nagorno-Garabagh
Republic" and Azerbaijan, as Armenia and Azerbaijan do not have
territorial demands towards each other", the election program of the
candidate says.
It is also mentioned in the program that the Garabagh conflict must be
settled in the framework of the right of nations for self-determination
and recognition of the supremacy of protection of human rights.
Gegamyan considers that the problem settlement must rely on all
norms of international law, which will help accelerate the peaceful
settlement of the conflict.
"I think the security and development of each conflicting side must
be strengthened not at the expense of the weakening of the opposite
side, but at the cost of parallel strengthening and development of
the sides", the program states.
The candidate also considers that the OSCE Minsk Group remains an
appropriate regulator of the negotiation process between the sides.
