The "Hayastan" Pan-Armenian Foundation launched a programme of rural
development in Tavush Marz on September 18, 2007.
According to the foundation's web site the programme covers all
frontier villages of the republic.
Six villages of Idzevan are also included in the programme-Aknaghbyur,
Azatamut, Khashtarak, Ditavan, Lusadzor and Lusahovit. Actually,
only Azatamut borders on Azerbaijan. The others are about 6-10
km away from Idzevan. Obviously, the frontier villages (Chinari,
Voskepar, Berkaber, Barekamavan, and Koti) are most vulnerable from
the socio-economic point of view.
