ARMENIAN PM MEETS WITH THE RESIDENTS OF AKNASHEN VILLAGE OF ARMAVIR PROVINCE

During his visit to Armavir Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian
met today with the people of one of the needy villages of Armavir
province Aknashen.
The meeting was aimed at getting acquainted with their problems,
listen to the issues they are interested in.
The prime minister was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister
Territorial Governance Minister Armen Gevorgian, Agriculture Minister
Aramayis Grigorian and others. "This is our first visit to Aknashen,
before this we got acquainted with your issues and would like to hear
your opinion over their solution. They will be important for us while
developing our programs," the prime minister noted.
The head of the village of Aknashen Misak Misakian highly assessed
the working style adopted by the Armenian government and at the same
time presented the issues of the village. He said until now Aknashen
has not received a special state financing for the solution of any of
the issues, the community tried to solve its issues by its own means
which often are not enough. He said the secondary school of Aknashen,
functioning for already 40 years, is in a breakaway condition and is
one of the small number of buildings which is not connected to the
natural gas network and it does not have necessary furniture and
laboratory devices. The prime minister promised to keep the issue
under limelight.
The residents of the village also spoke about the issue of water
irrigation which harms the agriculture as many lands because of the
irrigation problem remain uncultivated.
Pointing out about the importance of the issue, the minister of
agriculture noted that everything possible will be done for solving
the issue.
The people of Aknashen were also concerned with the lack of fertilizers
and their high prices. In this respect the minister of agriculture
said that everything possible is being done for oversight of the
market of fertilizers and relevant instructions have been given to
tax and customs bodies for controlling the increase of their prices.
Referring to the prices, the minister said that they depend on private
importers but expressed hope that after the Vanadzor chemical factory
produces fertilizers the prices for it will decrease.
Summing up the meeting, the prime minister said that he greets that
the residents first of all highlighted the issue on reconstruction of
the school. "Of course, the solution of the issue is very important
for us," Tigran Sargsian said.
