PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN RECEIVES FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC

    ARMENPRESS
    July 7

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today Karel Schwarzenberg,
the foreign affairs minister of the Czech Republic, who is paying an
official visit to Armenia, and members of his entourage.

The presidential press office quoted Serzh Sargsyan as saying that
Armenia attaches great importance to development of bilateral and
multilateral relationships with the Czech Republic and interaction
with it within European organizations' frameworks.

Saying that his country will assume in 2009 the European Union's
chairmanship and wishes to expand cooperation with countries embraced
by its European Neighborhood Program (ENP), Karel Schwarzenberg said
he thought it important to pay visits to the South Caucasian region
to discuss with the leadership of its countries interaction-related
    issues.

At the request of the Czech minister President Sargsyan presented the
current status of efforts aimed at resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict, giving also clarifications on a set of other issues.

The Czech minister expressed hope that the conflicting sides
would manage eventually to find a solution supported by the basic
international principles that would bring positive results for the
    people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
