President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the Czech Republic, Karel Schwarzenberg, who arrived to Armenia on
official visit, and his delegation.
President Sargsyan said that Armenia attaches great importance not
only to the development of bilateral relations with the Czech Republic
but also to the relations in multilateral settings and cooperation
in the European structures.
Noting that in January 2009 the Czech Republic would assume the
chairmanship at the European Union and has a sincere desire to expand
relations with the countries involved in the New Neighborhood plan,
Karl Schwarzenberg said that he deemed it necessary to visit the
region ahead of time and have discussions on the areas of cooperation.
At the request of the high guest the President of Armenia presented
in detail the current stage of the Nagorno Karabakh peace process
and provided explanation on some of the issues.
The Head of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope
that the parties would be able to bring the fundamental principles
of international law together and find a solution which would yield
positive results for the people of Nagorno Karabakh. He said that
after all the people is the most important part of the problem.
