According to the data of the first six months of 2008, the number
of application-complaints presented to the Ombudsman's Office has
increased by 30% as compared with the same period of the previous
year. 87 positive solutions have recorded this year against 36
positive solutions recorded in the same period of the previous
year. RA Ombudsman Armen Haroutiunian reported at the July 11
press conference. According to him, the statistics of written
application-complaints against state and local self-government
bodies shows that the Police are in the first place, 129 (137),
courts in the second place, 64 (64), Yerevan Mayor's Office in the
third place, 47 (255), RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues in the
fourth place, 37 (66), and the Prosecutor's Office in the fifth place,
32 (100). "However, if we take into consideration the fact that some
applications are collective, that is, the number of people does not
coincide with the number of complaints, if we take into consideration
the number of people, the Special Investigation Service is in the
first place, Yerevan Mayor's Office in the second place, Police in
the third place, Prosecutor's Office in the fourth place, RA Ministry
of Labor and Social Issues in the fifth place.
