Stephen Hadley, a senior security advisor to US president George
    W. Bush, is expected to visit Turkey, Turkish media have announced.

Hadley's visit comes a week after a gun attack on the US Consulate
in Istanbul, which left six people dead.

Washington condemned the attack and vowed to continue joint efforts
with Turkey in finding those responsible for the incident.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However,
signs and initial evidence suggest the attack was carried by al-Qaeda,
possibly with the help of a local group.

During his one-day visit, scheduled for Thursday June 16, Hadley is
to meet and confer with Turkish President Abdullah Gul as well as
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, Hurriyet reported.

Among the issues to be addressed during the American diplomat's visit
with Turkish authorities are 'the struggle with terrorism', energy
security, the latest situation of US presence in Iraq, the Iranian
nuclear issue as well as the relations between Ankara and Yerevan.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan had earlier invited Abdullah Gul
to watch a football game between the two country's national teams on
September 6, to mark a new phase in bilateral relations. Ankara is
    still evaluating the invitation.
