THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA PARTICIPATES IN THE "RELIGIONS FOR PEACE"
    INTERNATIONAL MEETING

The "Religions for Peace" International Organisation's Middle East and North
African division convened its meeting in Egypt on July 14-15 2008. As one of
the president's of the organization, His Holiness Aram I had a personal
invitation to attend the meeting. Given his own busy schedule, however, His
Holiness delegated Dr. Jean Salmanian who actively participated in the
    activities of the meeting.

The meeting attracted several participants from around the world- Christian
and Muslim religious officials, Ambassadors, government officials- who play
important roles in interfaith dialogue. The agenda of the meeting emphasized
in particular the common features combining the Muslim and Christian
religions. These were highlighted as guarantors of peace and brotherly
    relations between nations.

The participants discussed in detail and adopted the rulebook of the
organization's Middle East and North Africa chapter as well as its future
    plans.
