MEETING OF THE PRELATES AND CHAIRMEN OF
THE THREE NORTH AMERICA PRELACIES
Earlier this week, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate,
and Dr. Garo Agopian, Chairman of the Executive Council, departed for
Montreal, Canada, to participate in the meeting of the North American
Prelates and Executive Council Chairmen.
The meeting convened on Wednesday, July 23rd, with the participation
of the Prelate, H.E. Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Eastern
United States, H.E. Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, Prelate of Canada, and
Executive Council Chairmen Dr. Garo Agopian (Western Prelacy), Mr. Jack
Mardoian (Eastern Prelacy), and Dr. John Arakelian (Canada Prelacy).
Executive Council members from the Canadian Prelacy Dr. Garbis Harboyan, Mr.
Simon Poladian, and Mrs. Osig Mkhsi-Artinian also participated in the
meeting.
During the meeting, the Prelates and Chairmen discussed issues of
mutual concern to all three Prelacies such as Christian Education, youth
activities, religious publications, training of deacons and altar servers,
expansion of parishes, Armenian subjects' instruction and education,
inter-Prelacy collaboration, 50th anniversary of the Catholicosate of
Cilicia Prelacy in North America, Ghevontiants clergy conference, ecumenical
relations, and matters relating to the General Assembly which will take
place in December.
PRELATE TO PRESIDE OVER DIVINE LITURGY AND LISBON 5 COMMEMORATION AT ST.
MARY'S CHURCH IN GLENDALE
On Sunday, July 27th, the Prelate will preside over Divine Liturgy
and deliver the sermon at St. Mary's Church in Glendale.
Given that July 27 is the 25th anniversary of the Lisbon 5, by the
ordinance of the Prelate prayers will be offered during requiem service in
all Prelacy Churches. The Prelate will preside over the requiem service
immediately following Divine Liturgy, as well as over the commemoration to
honor the memory of the Lisbon 5 to take place at 1:00 p.m. at "Armenag Der
Bedrossian" Hall.
Later in the evening the Prelate will offer the invocation at the
annual banquet of the Armenian Cultural Foundation at the Beverly Wilshire
Hotel. Executive Council members will also be in attendance.
EVENING SERVICES AT THE PRELACY CHAPEL
On Friday, August 2nd, the Prelate will preside over Evening
Services at the "St. Dertad and St. Ashkhen" Chapel. Clergy members will
participate in the service which will begin at 6:00 p.m.
We invite our faithful parishioners and especially our youth to
participate in these uplifting services.
