RA President Serzh Sargsyan and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II,
on July 28, will leave for the Crimea to take part in the ceremony
dedicated to the 650th anniversary of foundation of the Surb Khach
Armenian Monastery Complex. The RA Ministers of Foreign Affairs and
Culture, the Chairman of the Committee on Contacts with the Diaspora
of the Foreign Ministry, other high-ranking officials are members of
the Armenian delegation.
The Armenian President will be present at the consecration ceremony
of Surb Khach Church, which will be done by the Catholicos of All
Armenians.
Surb Khach is one of the prominent monuments of Armenian architecture
and the spiritual center of the Crimean Armenian colony, which for
many ages had been the residence of bishops.
As Noyan Tapan was informed by the RA President's Press Office,
during the visit to the Crimea the Armenian President will have a
conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Jushchenko. An
agreement on cooperation until 2010 will be signed between the two
countries' Ministries of Culture.
