IN ARMEN ASHOTIAN'S WORDS, RAFFI HOVANNISIAN LAYS CLAIM TO LEADIND OPPOSITION IN 2012-2013 STATE ELECTIONS

In Armenia the post-election energetics has not extinguished and
cannot extinguish. This was announced by Armen Ashotian, a member of
the Armenian Republican Party faction of the RA National Assembly. He
added that today the authorities are trying to use new tools of
solving the problems in the formed situation.
A. Ashotian noted that the authorities should manifest "good will"
so that the cases of the arrested by the fact of the events of March
1-2 should appear in court as quickly as possible, and if there is
evidence the guilty ones should be punished and in case of absence
of evidence they should be set free.
Answering the question of how he treats the idea of creating Armenian
National Congress (ANC), A. Ashotian expressed his doubt whether
it should become fully established. According to him, ideological
disagreements of the opposition parties and the personal claims
of their leaders are the basis for doubts. According to him, now
inside the opposition a struggle is going on for becoming Levon
Ter-Petrosian's heir. And Zharangutiun party, A.
Ashotian's words, will not join ANC as the party leader Raffi
Hovannisian has not received guarantees of becoming Levon
Ter-Petrosian's heir in the opposition field. At the same time he
noted that Raffi Hovannisian lays claim to leading the opposition in
2012-2013 state elections.
