The power grid of Azerbaijan will be the state property until the
Karabakh conflict is settled for being able to interfere with the
resolution of strategic issues, said Prime Minister of Azerbaijan
Arthur Rasizade.
He said there are different views on this issue-there are opponents and
supporters. On the other side, it is considered that participation of
private companies in this sector would create a competitive environment
and influence energy tariffs.
"Today, the most profitable business is construction of power station
and sale of power, therefore, the number of people, interested in
this sphere, is high", said the Premier.
On the other hand, he said "it would be incorrect to live by
principles of market economy, the government should consider national
interests. The current processes in the world economy prove this once
more", Rasizade said.
It should be noted that the project of construction of the first
private electric station in Azerbaijan has proposed by South Korean
Kepko.
