EXCHANGE RATE OF ARMENIAN DRAM AGAINST DOLLAR GROWS 1.1% IN MAY 2008 ON DECEMBER 2007

YEREVAN, JUNE 2, NOYAN TAPAN. The growth of consumer prices and of the
settlement exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the U.S. dollar
made 7.4% and 1.1% in May 2008 on December 2007. In the same period of
last year, 4.2% growth of consumer prices and 3% fall in the settlement
exchnage rate of the dram against the dollar was registered in Armenia.
According to the RA National Statistical Service, 1.3% inflation in
Armenia's consumer market in May on April 2008 was accompanied by a
0.5% fall in the exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the dollar
(the dram appreciated).
The average exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the dollar made
307.56 drams in May 2008, which was lower by 13.1% than the index of
May 2007 (353.77 drams).
