ARMENIAN PREMIER MEETS WITH WB REGIONAL DIRECTOR

YEREVAN, June 4. /ARKA/. Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsian received the
World Bank Regional Director Donna Douset-Koirolo and representatives
of WB Office in Armenia, the government press service reports.
The WB report on Armenia's development policy options for 2008-2012
was presented at the meeting, the press service reported. The aim of
the report was to present main options as to how to meet the challenges
faced by Armenia along with the country's efforts to develop economic
growth and achieve notable results in poverty reduction.
The WB Regional Director said that the report is considered a basis
for the bank's cooperation with Armenia in the next four years, along
with the government grogram and the poverty reduction strategy that
is being revised now.
Armenian Premier, in his turn, stressed the importance of the work
done by the WB and reflected in the report that is concordant
with the government program on the whole. The Premier said that
certain programs need additional discussion to allow the government
consolidating its approaches. After the discussions to be held at
Premier's office summarized approaches will be introduced to the WB.
Among the participants in the meeting were the Chief Advisor to
Armenian President on economic issues, ministers of finance, economy,
justice, education and science, healthcare, labor and social issues,
Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank, representatives of State Taxation
Service and the State Customs Committee.
