VICE PRIME MINISTER INTRODUCES THREE NEW CABINET MINISTERS

YEREVAN, JUNE 3, ARMENPRESS: Vice prime minister Armen Gevorkian
introduced today three new Cabinet ministers, all from the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation (ARF) who were picked by the party to replace
Levon Mkrtchian, David Lokian and Aghvan Vardanian as education
and science, agriculture and labor and social affairs ministers
respectively after they were elected to the ARF Bureau.
Armen Gevorkian first introduced Spartak Seyranian who replaced
Levon Mkrtchian. Then Arsen Hambardzumian as labor and social affairs
minister and then Aramais Grigorian as agriculture minister.
All were appointed by President Serzh Sarkisian's June 2 decrees.
Presenting the new minister to the leadership of the Education and
Science Ministry, vice prime minister Armen Gevorkian said Spartak
Seyranian is a man possessing good organizational skills and human
characteristics enabling him to maintain high the good name and
reputation of the ministry. He said now is a difficult period for
the ministry with thousands of school graduates taking graduation
examinations and universities getting prepared for enrollment exams.
Armen Gevorkian said the president of the country has placed a simple
task - to do everything to ensure that examinations be transparent and
honest so that no doubts rise that higher education is not available
to students with good knowledge.
Armen Gevorkian then thanked the former minister Levon Mkrtchian for
his longtime and effective work as minister and wished him success
in his new responsible position.
While presenting new labor and social affairs minister vice prime
minister noted that the country's leadership is satisfied with the work
of the ministry steered for years by Aghvan Vardanian. He said the
ministry was solving problems and issues quickly and effectively. He
expressed hope that the new minister, Arsen Hambardzumian, who takes
on a position in an agency with a skilled and professional staff,
will do his best to preserve this image.
He also said that Arsen Hambardzumian is well aware of the sector's
priorities and problems as he steered a social protection credit
program.
The outgoing minister Aghvan Vardanian said it was an honor for him
to work for years as head of an agency that has worked to promote
the establishment of a strong Armenian state.
When presenting new agricultural minister Aramais Grigorian,
Armen Gevorkian thanked the former minister David Lokian saying he
enjoyed the respect and sympathies of both the country's leadership
and Armenian farmers whose problems he knew well by touring across
the country.
