YEREVAN, JUNE 9, NOYAN TAPAN. As of June 5, another restraint not
connected with arrest was chosen to 35 defendants on the case of events
that happened in the period following the RA presidential elections, 40
people were under arrest, and concrete accusations for doing concrete
actions was brought to them. RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepian
said this during the hearing held at the RA National Assembly the
same day.
65 criminal cases to 71 people were sent to the court, there were
already sentences to 28 out of them, including 10 were sentenced
suspendedly, to punishments not connected with imprisonment. 17 out
of 28 imprisoned people completely accepted the accusation brought
to them, speeded-up judicial enquiry order was used to them.
According to the Prosecutor General, 16 civil persons and 32 Police
employees received bodily injuries during the events that happened
in Yerevan Liberty Square in the morning of March 1. During mass
disorders following it in Yerevan streets, 32 civil persons and 182
policemen and servicemen received bodily injuries, 42 out of them
small shot bodily injuries of various degrees in consequence of
various devices' explosions.
92 motor transport means were burnt and damaged, property damage of
nearly 70m drams was inflicted to Yerevan Mayor's Office, property
damage of 301m drams to civil persons.
