YEREVAN, JUNE 10, NOYAN TAPAN. On June 10, the RA National
Assembly through secret ballot elected 32-year-old Grigor Badirian,
a lawyer-scientist, a Doctor of science of law, as member of the
Justice Council. According to Samvel Nikoyan, the Chairman of the RA
NA Ad Hoc Calculation Commission, 88 out of 130 deputies took part
in the voting. 85 deputies voted for the only nominated candidate,
1 deputy voted against. Two ballot-papers were recognized invalid.
According to the RA Constitution, RA NA elects two lawyer-scientists
of the Justice Council. RA NA Speaker Tigran Torosian expressed the
hope that NA will also elect the second one in autumn.
It should be mentioned that G. Badirian was appointed member of
the Justice Council by RA NA in 2006-2007. He started his working
activity in 2000 at H. Acharian University and continued it at the
French University in Armenia as a lecturer. G. Badirian has been the
Dean of the Law Department of the French University in Armenia since
2004 up to the present.
