ELMAR MAMMADYAROV MEETS THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE'S OFFICIALS

Baku. Lachin Sultanova - APA. Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar
Mammadyarov met with Claudia Luciani, Director of Political Advice
and Cooperation of the Council of Europe's Directorate General for
the Political Issues and Veronica Kotek, newly-appointed special
representative of the Council of Europe's Secretary General on
Azerbaijan on Wednesday.
Mammadyarov said relations between Azerbaijan and Council of Europe
were developing in the positive spirit and Azerbaijan seriously
approached its obligations before the Council and reforms and
democratic changes carried out in the country within the framework
of these obligations contributed to the development and welfare above
all. The Minister said despite the war with Armenia, Azerbaijan kept
pace with the democratic processes and made efforts to solve problems
in this field within its cooperation with CE.
CE official appreciated the Azerbaijan's activity in this field and
said they were interested in the important and useful cooperation with
Azerbaijan and intended to carry out different programs, as well as
to organize trainings in the fields of journalism and court.
Preparations to the presidential elections, cooperation with the
different segments of the government and strengthening of democratic
values in the country were also discussed at the meeting.
