What is the position of Armenia concerning the report of US State
Department published on May 23 directed to the conditions of democratic
and human rights in Armenia? Today Republican deputy Armen Ashotyan
expressed his interest about the topic in National Assembly.
Note that the US State Department report has seriously criticized
the conditions of human rights and post election situation in Armenia.
Answering to the question the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia
Edward Nalvandyan said that the report has been repeating the
evaluations done by the OSCE ODIHR in their last report. Remind that
the report stated that the elections in Armenia were in line with the
responsibilities taken by Armenia and that they were a step forward
compared with the previous elections.
As for the certain statements about the human rights, the minister
said, "We follow and study the report; first it is in our interests
to organize meetings to discuss the questions concerning the field
and their improvement."
