Y EREVAN, JUNE 14, NOYAN TAPAN. Since the adoption of resolution No 1609
by the PACE, "Heritage" party has put forward a lot of proposals and
initiatives, "presenting its complex program on the resolution's
content points to the coalition partners and taking procedural steps
aimed at dialog", leader of the National Assembly "Heritage" faction,
member of the Armenian delegation in the PACE Raffi Hovannisian said
during the June 13 briefing in the PACE.
"The summer session of the PACE starts in ten days, and in my opinion,
substantial steps have been taken so far neither in terms of contents
nor in the procedural field. On the whole, I have a negative attitute
to the steps taken until now and I think that the deprivation of good
name that we have experienced in recent period will continue unless
some radical, reforming steps are taken until June 23," R. Hovannisian
stated, noting that he is not optimistic. In his words, the issue of
the Armenia delegation's being (not being) deprived of voting right in
the PACE is of secondary importance, as "the most important thing is
the rights of Armenian citizens and Armenia's international authority
that are in danger".
