CHIEF OF ARMENIAN POLICE, MAJOR-GENERAL ALIK SARKISYAN: PRESERVING OF PUBLIC ORDER AND FIGHTING CRIMINALITY IS THE MAIN TASK OF THE POLICE

Preserving of the public order and fighting criminality is the main
task of the police, chief of the Armenian Police, Major-General Alik
Sarkisyan said at today's press-conference.
He also added that the main order of the president Serzh Sarkisyan
is to restore confidence of the society and people to policemen as
soon as possible. He also said that the president told policemen
that any mass measures and actions including the protest actions -
rallies, demonstrations and others should be accepted by policemen with
understanding "if they do not turn into mass disorders and may violate
constitutional regime. The Police is an a-political structure and we
respect the rights of all the citizens of the country including the
right to holding protest actions", - chief of the Armenian Police said.
