POLICEMEN NO LONGER HINDER HOLDING OF OPPOSITION RALLY IN YEREVAN CENTER

YEREVAN, JUNE 20, NOYAN TAPAN. Dozens of thousands of people had
gathered in the territory near Matenadaran at about 17:00. Their number
increased almost three-fold in an hour. The way to Matenadaran's hill
was blocked by the policemen from 9:00 am. The policemen were armed
with shields and clubs.
However, after the demonstrants blocked Mashtots Avenue hindering the
street traffic, the policemen gave way to the people that occupied
the square leading to Matenadaran. As of 18:25, the rally had not
started yet, but the policemen no longer hindered holding of the rally
in the territory near Matenadaran. As of 18:40, first RA President
Levon Ter-Petrosian joined the demonstrants.
