Assistant to US State Secretary in the issues regarding Europe and
Eurasian countries Daniel Frid announced in Washington that the US
doesn't struggle against the Russian Federation for the spheres of
influence in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan and has no intentions
to withdraw RF from Trans-Caucasus.
"The US has no anticipations to exclude Russia from that region. It
is not sensible and it is impossible," Frid underscored in his report
made in the US Congress.
The US diplomat said: "The US doesn't see itself in the style of
the 19th century and won't compete with Russia for the spheres of
influence in any region. All the Trans-Caucasian countries, Russia
and Trans- Atlantic community will only benefit from the positive
mutual relations."
Frid underscored that it is up to the countries of that region
Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to decide their future and build
mutual relations with other states and international institutions
including NATO.
