Russia wants all crises in the Trans-Caucasus to be settled by peaceful
means and it is prepared to work to this end.
"We proceed from the understanding that all crises in the
Trans-Caucasus must be solved exclusively by peaceful means, within
the framework of the established formats and in strict compliance
with international law," Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said after
talks with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.
"Our country is prepared to promote the search for solutions that
would meet the fundamental interests of all ethnic groups resident
there," he said. "This fully applies to the situation inside and
around Nagorno-Karabakh."
"We specifically emphasized the mediatory role of the OSCE Minsk
Group in the negotiating process. Also we discussed some new
opportunities. Both sides displayed interest in this," Medvedev said.
