HIS HOLINESS ARAM I PARTICIPATES IN THE MEETING
OF SPIRITUAL HEADS
Lebanese President General Michel Suleiman chaired the meeting of Lebanese
Christian and Muslim spiritual Heads, which was convened in the Presidential
Palace on June 24. His Holiness Aram I participated in the meeting.
In his opening remarks, the President emphasized the importance of
strengthening the internal unity of Lebanon and gathering around the
Lebanese state. He highlighted the key role of spiritual Heads in this
regard. The spiritual Heads themselves adopted the same approach in their
own speeches, stressing the need for harmony and cooperation for the purpose
of preserving the sovereignty and independence of Lebanon and anchoring the
authority of its state. The spiritual Heads then adopted a common
declaration.
After the meeting a luncheon was organized in honor of the spiritual Heads.
The Prime Minister and the Speaker of Parliament also attended the luncheon.
