The Marxist Party of Armenia declares finish of its historic-political
mission in the alliance of forces supporting Levon Ter-Petrosian in
the 2008 presidential elections and starts preparing a candidate of
its own for the coming presidential elections. David Hakobian, party
Chairman, reported at the June 26 press conference. As he predicted,
new presidential elections will be held in Armenia in a month or
a year.
According to D. Hakobian, they joined that alliance after
L. Ter-Petrosian stated that he is even ready to become an instrument
to free the nation of this criminal administration. However, according
to D. Hakobian, his motto was not fulfilled, moreover, the election
campaign failed due to the bankruptcy of L. Ter-Petrosian's tactical
means. "Today ANM's political kamancha (Armenian musical instrument)
is crying with its string ready to cry and thrustes a new motto upon
the people: "There is no alternative to L.
Ter-Petrosian," he said.
As D. Hakobian evaluated, he has a number of disagreements with the
first President. In particular, for him, it was inadmissible that
three days after the presidential elections when the people that
had gathered in Liberty Square was ready to seize power's heights,
L. Ter-Petrosian fascinated with that square "was dancing kochari
waving his white handkerchief." Therefore, according to the Marxist,
he lost the elections in the tactical respect.
Besides, D. Hakobian does not agree to L. Ter-Petrosian's statement
that he will conduct a dialogue with the authorities after the
political prisoners are released. "Even if all imprisoned people
of the country are released with the help of the Saviour (he
means RA President Serge Sargsian), Hakobian David will not sit
at the negotiations table with a person stealing the power," he
stated. Meanwhile D. Hakobian said that he does not accept S.
Sargsian's and L. Ter-Petrosian's approach that the Nagorno Karabakh
problem should be solved by a compromise variant.
