U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS HOPE POLITICAL TURMOIL IN ARMENIA WILL BE OVERCOME SOON

YEREVAN, MARCH 2, ARMENPRESS: On March 1 prime minister Serzh Sarkisian
had a telephone conversation with U.S. assistant secretary of State
for European and Eurasian Affairs Daniel Fried and deputy assistant
secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Mathew Bryza,
the government press office in Yerevan said.
Mathew Bryza is also the American cochairman in the OSCE Minsk Group.
The press office said both Mr. Fried and Mr. Bryza expressed hope
that the authorities and the opposition in Armenia will succeed in
overcoming the current political turmoil through a political dialogue
and avoiding violence.
Daniel Fried and Mathew Bryza also expressed hope that the authorities
will be able to swiftly restore stability and public order.
The government press office said prime minister Serzh Sarkisian
assured top. U.S. diplomats that his government will do everything
in its power to avoid violence and restore public order and stability.
The Armenian prime minister also thanked his U.S. partners for their
support.
