"REPUBLICANS" CONDEMN LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN ARMENIA

Tbilisi. March 03 (Prime-News) - "Republican" party of Georgia condemns
latest development in Armenia and calls on Armenian authority to stop
violence against Armenian people.
"Murder of citizens during demonstrations, arrest of oppositional
activists, introduction of the state of emergency and censor, using
of military detachments, equipment and armament confirms that the
government of Armenia tried to use violence not having exhausted
resources for dialogue with the opposition, which doubted official
results of the presidential elections," reads the statement released
by the "Republican" party of Georgia today.
Protest rallies in Yerevan, capital of Armenia, started after the
presidential elections. 15 000 people participated in rallies. It is
reported that the Police fired in the air and let off tear gas to
break up the rally. Eight people died and there are injured people
as a result of rally.
Robert Kocharyan, acting president of Armenia, announced a 20-day
state of emergency after the clashes.
Levon Ter-Petrosyan, presidential candidate of the opposition, is in
under a house arrest. At the press conference for foreign journalists
he stated that he would continue struggling for restoration of truth.
Ter-Petrosyan evaluates the presidential elections and dispersal of
the rally as violence and expresses distrust towards the government
of Armenia.
According to official results of the presidential elections held
in Armenia on February 19, Serj Sarkisyan, acting Prime Minister of
Armenia, has won the polls.
