MODIFIED FILMS

As informed yesterday by Colonel GEGHAM POGHOSYAN, First Deputy
Commander of the Police Forces and Chief of the Headquarters, during
the disorders provoked on March 1-2 the servicemen of the Police
Forces used exclusively some of the special means envisaged by the
Law on the Police.
With regard to the recent video materials showing as though the Police
used fighting weapons against the demonstrators on the night of March
2, G.
Petrosyan considered these attempts as obvious lies and provocation,
because the video films contained episodes which were obviously
modified.
"Perhaps, you have watched the above-mentioned video material from
your point of view, without paying attention to the details which
could not have slipped our eye as servicemen. First of all, let
me clarify the moment when five armed people released a gunshot in
Mashtots Avenue, just the opposite side of the market. As a result
of a through investigation, we noticed that the firearm muzzle had
such flash extinguisher that could not release ball cartridges;
otherwise the firearm might explode and cause serious damages.
Touching upon the second factor, let me mention that those who have
served in military units will assert that neither at daytime nor
during the night hours is it possible to see the fire released from
a shotgun containing ball-cartridges.
Therefore, the one who modified the film has not only failed to
serve in the army but also has no idea about military weapons,"
the Colonel mentioned.
