YEREVAN, Armenia: The Armenian president says he has lifted a range
of media restrictions imposed under a state of emergency earlier
this month.
Robert Kocharian's decree allows independent media outlets to report
on government policy and domestic political issues.
A ban on public meetings and strike actions remains in place.
The president lifted the reporting restrictions after a U.S. official
condemned the Armenian government's crackdown on protests following
last month's presidential election.
