YEREVAN, MARCH 14, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian government has set up
an inter-agency commission to prepare and coordinate a set of events
to mark the centenary of prominent American Armenian author William
Saroyan. The commission is chaired by the country's prime minister.
As part of these events a film director Yuri Muradian will make a
cartoon called Bitlis. Bitlis is a town in Western Armenia, now in
Turkey where Saroyan's parents hailed from.
The director said today the 10 minute-long cartoon is based on two
short stories by Saroyan. The film will be ready in July.
