By the end of the year 2009 95 percent of the population of Karabakh
will have gas supply. Presently, 70 percent of the population has
gas supply.
Stepanakert, the regions of Askeran, Martuni (with some exceptions)
and Shushi have been gasified. This year the regional centers of
Martakert and Hadrut will have gas, and next year the district of
Haterk will be gasified, said the CEO of Artsakh Gas Maxim Mirzoyan
in an interview with the Azat Artsakh.
According to him, about 4-5 percent of population does not pay for gas.
"On the whole, we do not have problems with it," Maxim Mirzoyan said.
In answer to the question whether in the nearest future the gas bill
may increase, Maxim Mirzoyan said gas is more expensive in Karabakh
than in Russia, Belarus and Armenia. "It is related to the cost of
transportation. We pay extra 15 dollars per 1000 cu m. I can only say
that we have an agreement, and the price of gas will not change till
December 31 2008."
