RA Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian received the Deputy Foreign
Minister of Russia, Secretary of State Grigory Karasin, MFA Press
and Information Department reported.
Greeting the guest, Minister Oskanian expressed gratitude for Russia's
support at a responsible point for the Armenian nation. Speaking about
bilateral cooperation in different spheres, the parties appreciated
the high level relations between Armenia and Russia.
The interlocutors turned to the post election developments in Armenia,
the domestic political situation and noted that it is necessary to
undertake all necessary steps to normalize the situation as soon
as possible.
The parties also discussed the process of resolution of the Karabakh
conflict, the truce violation at the contact line between the Armed
Forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan and the results of voting
on the draft resolution on Nagorno Karabakh introduced to the UN
General Assembly.
Reference was made also to regional and global issues, the situation
after the proclamation of Kosovo's independence, the positions of
Armenia and Russia on the issue, as well as questions connected with
the NATO summit to be held in Bucharest in early April.
