ARTICLE 318 CANCELLED AS A RESULT OF AMENDMEMT TO CRIMINAL CODE

YEREVAN, MARCH 20, NOYAN TAPAN. The RA National Assembly on March 20
passed in second reading and completely the bill on an amendment and
an addition to the Law on Ensuring the Security of Persons Subject
to Special State Protection. The NA passed in first reading the new
draft law on firm names, which simplifies the registration process
of firm names and eliminates the unjustified grounds for refusing the
registration of firm names. After adoption of this law and its taking
effect, the current law of the same name (adopted on November 11,
1999) will lose its force.
The NA also adopted in first reading two legislative initiatives
written by members of "Orinats Yerkir" faction. As a result of an
amendment made to the RA Criminal Code, Article 318 of the Criminal
Code "Insulting a Representative of Authorities" has been recognized
as invalid. By the package of amendments made to the Law on Repressed
Persons and the RA Land Code, the time restriction on gratis provision
of land plots (with the right of property) to repressed persons in
need of housing improvement has been removed. Previosly, the deadline
was June 30, 2007.
