With two rounds to go at the 17th Amber Blindfold and Rapid Chess
Tournament the lead is even firmer in Armenian Grand Master Levon
Aronyan's hands.
The Armenian trounced Alexander Morozevich 2-0 and increased his lead
in the combined standings to 2.5 points.
Aronyan is followed by Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Peter Leco (Hungary)
and Magnus Carlsen (Norway) who have 10 points each. Veselin Topalov
(Bulgaria) and Vasili Ivanchuk (Ukraine) have 9.5 points, Wishvanathan
Anand (India) - 9 points, Alexander Morozevich (Russia) - 8.5 points,
Sergey Karyakin (Ukraine) - 8 points, Loek van Wely (the Netherlands) -
7.5 points, Boris Gelfand (Israel) - 7 points and Shahriyar Mamedyarov
- 6.5 points.
The 10th round is set for March 26. The last 11th round will take
place on March 27.
