YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. About 15-20,000 residents of Yerevan
will get the right to legalize their housing, the Chairman of
Armenia's State Committee for Real Estate Cadastre Manuk Vardanian
told journalists.
According to him, the opportunity will be provided under the draft
law about the status of private houses in Yerevan without property
documents. The draft law was approved by the government today.
Under the draft law, private houses and auxiliary areas that were
built before May 15 2001 with no proper documentation preserved are
to be legalized, if the area of the land or building is not more than
300 square meters, Vardanian said adding that this concerns only the
completed construction.
The remaining territory of illegal construction, i.e. incomplete
buildings, as well as garages, shops and public facilities will be
considered illegal and subject to legalization, he added.
According to Yerevan Municipality, the number of illegal construction
in Yerevan exceeds 100,000, including 40,000 garages, Vardanian
said.
