"ARMENIA, WHICH HAS GAINED VICTORY IN BATTLE FIELD IS LOSING IN DIPLOMATIC STRUGGLE," VAHAN SHIRKHANIAN FINDS

    Noyan Tapan
    March 28, 2008

YEREVAN, MARCH 28, NOYAN TAPAN. Irrespective of the fact that
Armenia gained a victory in the Artsakh war, the Armenian diplomatic
corpus started to lose in the political field after concluding an
armistice. This statement was made by Vahan Shirkhanian, the former
RA Deputy Minister of the Republic of Armenia, during the March
    28 discussion.

According to him, Azerbaijan had thrice more military supplies
and armement than Armenia at war. However, that circumstance, in
the words of Vahan Shirkhanian, did not hinder the Armenian Armed
Forces from liberating Artsakh. As regards the political resource, as
    V. Shirkhanian mentioned, Armenia has always been in more favourable
positions and has surpassed Azerbaijan for many times from that point
of view. The Armenian Diaspora, for example, is a powerful political
resource, the potential of which, according to the former Deputy
Minister, has been used very productively for the recent years.

The last evidence of the incomplete work of the Armenian diplomacy,
as Vahan Shirkhanian declared, is the resolution "Situation in
territories conquered from Azerbaijan" passed in the United Nations
Organization about ten years ago. The Armenian diplomats, in his
conviction, had all the opportunities to prevent, for example,
the adoption of the first point of the resolution, which defines
"Recognition of territorial completeness of Azerbaijan by sovereign
borders". That point was possible to eliminate with facts, which
prove that Karabakh has never been in the structure of Azerbaijan.

Touching upon international structures, V. Shirkhanian mentioned that
the latters follow the political, legislative and economic state of
Armenia, however, "they make no interference in the establishment of
    democracy in the country."
