CELEBRATIONS DEDICATED TO THE PROCLAMATION OF THE FIRST REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

On the occasion of the Republic Day, the 90th anniversary of
proclamation of the first Republic of Armenia, a celebration was
organized at the Sardarapat Memorial Complex.
RA Presidnet Serzh Sargsyan, NKR President Bako Sahakyan, Speaker
of the National Assembly Tigran Torosyan, Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan, President of the Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan,
representatives of the executive and legislative bodies, the senior
Officer staff of the Armed Forces, heads of local self-government
bodies, other officials, heads of foreign diplomatic missions
accredited in Armenia came to pay homage to the memory of the soldiers
that fell in the Sardarapat battle. Following the tradition, the
second President of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Robert Kocharyan,
also visited the memorial. Residents of the marzes and the capital,
Diaspora Armenians and foreigners participated in the celebration.
The leadership of the Republic was greeted with a military parade. The
leaders of the country laid a wreath of flowers at the memorial to
the victims of the heroic battle. His Holiness Gargein II, Supreme
Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, offered a requiem service.
Led by RA President, the guests visited the State Museum of Ethnography
and National Liberation Struggle, where a new exhibition entitled
"The May victories and the proclamation of the Republic of Armenia
was opened."
RA President, President of the Chess Federation of Armenia Serzh
Sargsyan also watched Grand Master Vladimir Hakobyan's game with the
best chess players of the marz.
