The newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Gedrius Apuokas
presented his credentials to RA President Serzh Sargsyan. The diplomat
said it's a great honor for him to be the first resident ambassador of
Lithuania to Armenia and will spare no effort to contribute to the
further expansion of partnership between the two countries.
Congratulating the Ambassador on appointment, President Sargsyan
welcomed Lithuania's move to open an Embassy in Armenia and noted that
Armenia also intends to open an Embassy in Lithuania.
The President assessed the Armenian-Lithuanian relations as friendly
and allied. Underlining the high level of political dialogue between
the two countries, he said it's necessary to boost the economic
cooperation, which is still on a low level, although the potential is
rather large and a corresponding legal field is shaped.
Serzh Sargsyan attached importance to the development of both bilateral
and multilateral cooperation, including that within the framework of
the European Neighborhood Policy. Noting that the European direction is
a priority for Armenia, the President said the Baltic states have
accumulated a serious experience of European integration, which can be
very useful and educating for us.
The President highly appreciated the readiness of the Lithuanian side
to render consultative support to reforms implemented in different
spheres in Armenia.
