ARF Dashnaktustyun member Ruzanna Arakelyan isn't that concerned
over the Karabakh issue. She is more than confident that the Armenian
leadership will never surrender the liberated territories. The Azeri
press also instills confidence in her regarding the Karabakh conflict
regulation.
"Today the print media and the radical opposition spread panic
among the Armenian society connected with the settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and Armenia-Turkey relations. They
raise rhetoric questions which are a little bit exaggerated and
incompliant with the reality. The authorities haven't even put the
issue of the Karabakh conflict on the agenda of negotiations. If you
follow the Azeri media you will see that there is no mention of any
concession. When speaking about concessions Azeri media mostly quote
their Armenian counterparts," said Mrs. Arakelyan.
Her opponent MP Zaruhi Postanjyan voiced serious concern about the
Karabakh issue as a RA citizen, Armenian parliamentarian and a lawyer.
"The conflict will probably be settled soon. The events of this
August showed that South Caucasus is constantly on the move. We must
be on the alert lest something unexpected should happen. We must
estimate the situation in due way. Our high ranking officials also
speak about certain concessions and compromises." We should know
what the authorities hint at and the minimum losses Armenian might
sustain. It is high time we legally cemented the relations between
Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh Republic and constituted the recognition
of Karbakh's independence by the Republic of Armenia.
In reply to journalists' question what the ARF Dashnaktsutyun will do
if Serzh Sargsyan who is presently in Moscow makes an unfavourable
decision for Armenia, Ruzanna Arakelyan said: "I hope Mr. Sargsyan
won't sign any document on surrendering the territories. Anyway,
Dashnaktsutyun will not withdraw from the ruling coalition as we
find it our mission to protect the state interests. I think none
of the coalition parties will take a decision harming the country's
statehood. We will never agree to concessions endangering Artsakh's
future and the right to sovereignty.
