/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Campaign aimed at economic and transport blockade
of Armenia is a part of Azerbaijan's strategy, an Armenian expert said.
This idea has been the foundation stone of independent Azerbaijan's
strategy and Baku seemed to believe in its efficiency, Sergei Minasyan,
head of political studies department at Caucasus Institute, told a
PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.
"However, Turkish President Abdullah Gul's landmark visit to Armenia in
September 2008 outlined opportunities for establishment of diplomatic
relations and opening of the border, a fact that discredits the policy
pursued by Baku. There are many obstacles for the Armenian-Turkish
reconciliation but the positive dynamics prompts that political and
communicational breakthrough possible in Armenia-Turkey relations in
foreseeable future," he said.
