SERZH SARGSYAN: I AM SURE THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION WILL ASSIST IN SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS OF SOUTH CAUCASUS REGION

ArmInfo. 'I am sure that the European Commission will assist in
solution of problems of the South Caucasus region', President of
Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said at a joint press-conference in Brussels
with Head of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
He said Armenia wishes rapprochement with Europe and expects assistance
of its partners and the European Commission on this way. 'We wish
for our European partners to create for us favourable conditions
for trade, we wish for our partners to see our economic development
and confer us a status of a country with market economy, we wish
facilitation of contacts among the citizens of Armenia and EU',
S. Sargsyan emphasized. For his part, Jose Manuel Barroso said he
had an interesting meeting with Armenia's president. He expressed
readiness to support Armenia on the way of implementation of the
Actions Programme within the frames of the 'European Neighbourhood'
policy'. He also said that regional issues were also discussed at the
meeting with Serzh Sargsyan. 'We wish to assist in establishment peace
in the region. This is an important region for the European Union,
and we shall not save efforts for our words not to belie our acts',
